Animal rights activists have collected new evidence of ecocide, which the Russian military is committing in the occupied territories of the Kherson region. The enemy kills wild animals and flaunts it in a photo.
As reported by the UAnimals organization, a member of the volunteer community sent them photos in which Russian soldiers from the occupied part of the Kherson region show off killed animals.
“These pictures – another confirmation that the Russians are killing all living things in Ukraine and committing real ecocide“, – say in the organization.
Animal rights activists established that the photo shows a shot hare and a common pheasant.

In addition, Vitaliy Smagol, a researcher at the Schmalhausen Institute of Zoology, confirmed to animal rights activists that one of the pictures shows a shot male red deer.

The organization adds: the conducted analysis confirms that the photos were taken in the Kherson region, however, it was not possible to determine the exact location. Animal rights activists note that before the full-scale invasion, red deer herds lived in the Askania-Nova nature reserve and the Azov-Syvas National Park.
During the full-scale invasion, approximately 20% of nature conservation areas in Ukraine were affected by hostilities. Because of the occupation, it is impossible to estimate how many animals died there, animal rights activists say.
