The marriage of Vasyl and Paraskevia Kirichenko was recognized as the longest in Ukraine. They have been married for 75 years. The record was set on April 2, the National Register of Records of Ukraine reported. As the 75-year-old daughter of Vasyl and Paraskeviya, Nadiya Popova, told “UP. Life”, her parents got married on February 22, 1948. “They were born and grew up in the same village of Kuhari, 100 km from Kyiv, but on different streets. According to her, the marriage certificate was lost, however, the stamps in the parents’ passports were renewed. Now the woman is 92 years old, and the man is 96 years old. Their daughter said that she is the only child in the family. Nadia and her husband live with their parents. They moved in with them when dad got sick. He suffered two heart attacks and does not get out of bed. His wife takes care of him, feeds him and holds his hand. Despite his respectable age, he feels quite well and gives himself advice. “At the registration of the record, Paraskeviya said that when Vasyl was already sick, but could still speak, he told her every morning: “Pashunya, get up!” And when he stopped doing it, she was very upset, constantly crying,” said Lana Vetrova. Mr. Vasyl himself built the house and improved the area. He took care of his wife and daughter all his life. Now he is being looked after by Paraskevia. “This mutual support is the main force that keeps them together for so many years,” Lana Vetrova believes. According to Vetrova, during the registration of the record, she saw a photo of a joint vacation of the spouses.
