In Khmelnytsk, a local 25-year-old resident was sentenced for storing more than 2,500 photos of child pornography in his phone.
He will spend 3 months behind bars, according to the Khmelnytskyi Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
In March 2022, passers-by saw a man photographing something on a mobile phone on one of the city’s streets and called the police.
The police officers decided to check the man’s documents, but he did not have them with him. Therefore, the suspect was taken to the regional police department for identification.

When checking his mobile phone, the police found more than 2,600 graphic files and more than 1,050 video recordings of child pornography.
“The convict downloaded files from the Internet“, the prosecutor’s office notes.
The court found the citizen guilty of possession of child pornography without the purpose of distribution or sale (Part 1 of Article 301-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
In the comment “UP Life“ the spokeswoman of the Khmelnytskyi regional prosecutor’s office, Maryna Tysyachna, said that the man was unemployed.
“The man did not have his own family, he had not been convicted before. He explained that he kept the files for his own use.” Tysyachna added.
