Time to go home: China is removing all its pandas from US zoos

[ad_1]

China plans to return all its pandas living in zoos in the United States.

China considers the panda a national treasure, but the reason for the return is not only that, Bloomberg reports.

Three pandas from China, in particular, live in the National Zoo in Washington. They are scheduled to be returned to China by December this year, after a three-year agreement with the Chinese wildlife agency expires.

The three other US zoos that have Chinese pandas – Atlanta, San Diego and Memphis – have either surrendered the pandas or will return them by the end of next year.

One version of the return of animals is that China is building its own network of national parks, where, in particular, it wants to keep and breed pandas.

There is also no need to send them abroad for maintenance or breeding, as pandas have been endangered for a long time.

There is a political version regarding the return of animals.

It is noted that the first pandas came to the United States after President Richard Nixon normalized relations with China in 1972.

In 2013, it found a correlation between uranium deals and the temporary transfer of pandas to Canada and France, and in 2018, China loaned Finland a panda to celebrate the country’s centenary of independence.

Therefore, it is believed that Beijing is leading panda diplomacytransferring animals to partner countries.

We previously reported that a unique albino panda was spotted in China.
