Andriy is a border guard officer with the call sign “SWAT”, while serving in the Kharkiv region, he saved the fighters of his group after two shells exploded in a trench. At the same time, he himself was wounded.
His story was told in the State Border Service of Ukraine.
Since childhood, Andriy dreamed of being a soldier, like his father, a border guard. That is why, after graduating from the National Academy of the DPSU, he decided to join the “Steel Border” Offensive Guard brigade.
The officer performed combat missions in Kharkiv region and Donetsk region. Soon he was appointed to lead the unit. He always consulted with more experienced fighters, supported the younger ones, the DPSU says.

“Brother – this is a person who will be side by side with you, a person who you will cover without even regretting your life, and who will cover you and provide first aid even when it is very difficult!” – Andrii is confident, having seen this in practice.
In the summer in the Kharkiv Region, near Izyum, a man and his subordinates performed a combat mission.
“The enemy attacked us from two sides, drones were flying, we were shelled from artillery, from RPGs, from SPG-9, from “Vasylkiv” mortars. The shells flew lower and lower overhead“, “SWAT” recalls.
Two shells exploded in the trench where Andriy and his brothers were.
“Blood poured from Andriy’s ears, it was very painful, he screamed, but eventually managed to pull himself together“, the border guards tell.

All fighters of the group were wounded and contused. Andriy gave them first aid, looked for medics.
The injuries of two soldiers turned out to be incompatible with life. However, the rest of the group managed to be saved – Andriy was carrying the seriously wounded. Border guards walked through forests, through trees felled by mines and shells, and under fire to reach a safe place.
The departure of the boys was covered by a machine gunner on the pseudo “Shpak”, who decided to stay in position. Despite being wounded, he restrained the offensive of the overwhelming enemy forces for 6 hours.
“SWAT” was very concerned about the fate of the machine gunner who remained to cover them, he was afraid that he remained on the battlefield forever. But “Shpak” shot the ammunition and was able to get out of the encirclement“, the DPSU notes.
