Seventh Kyiv criticism weekwhich will be held on October 12-18, presented two sections – “Focus: Ukraine – Poland” and International program. The organizers also announced an exclusive screening of the director’s new work Pedro Almodovar “Strange way of life”.

Previously, the festival had already announced the program of the international retrospective and the Ukrainian retrospective “Women’s Role”.

“Focus: Ukraine – Poland” program

It included six topical films demonstrating the modern filmmaking process of both countries, with its genre and authorial searches. Ukrainian and Polish film critics collaborated on the formation of the program.

The program “Focus: Ukraine – Poland” included:

“La Palisade” – the debut full-length by Philip Sotnichenko, whose Spanish premiere was recently held at the festival in San Sebastian. This is a post-Soviet noir, which tells about the investigation of the murder of a policeman, which takes place on the eve of the abolition of the death penalty. The world premiere of the film took place at the Rotterdam festival, where it won the prize of the International Film Press Association (FIPRESSI). The national premiere will take place during the Kyiv Critic’s Week.

The world premiere of the film took place at the Venice Film Festival. Screening at Critics’ Week will be the Ukrainian premiere of the film.

“You love Me” – the second full meter of Toni Noyabrova (“Hero of my time”). It’s also a coming-of-age story that unfolds on the eve of the fall of the USSR. The world premiere of the film took place at the Berlinale, and the Ukrainian premiere at the Odesa International Film Festival, where the lead actress Karina Khimchuk received a Special Award for Best Actress.

“The girl from…” – a joint work of Malgozhata Shumovska (“No more snow”, “Face / Snout”) and Michal Englert (“No more snow”).
