Ukrainian schools need more psychologists – Lisovy

It is necessary to increase the number of psychologists in Ukrainian schools. However, such a reform requires more specialists and additional funding. This was stated by the Minister of Education Oksen Lisovyi in an interview for Suspilny. According to him, the war created additional pressure on the psychological state of children and teachers. However, there are not enough psychologists to work in schools. “We are currently discussing with the Ministry of Finance about increasing the number of rates of psychologists. Currently, schools have half the rate – one psychologist who sometimes works for two or three schools. One person does not have time to cover all the children, not to mention the fact that it is extremely necessary to work with teachers and often help parents,” said Lisovyi. Oxen Lisovyi. When we talk about changes in some systemic things – whether about textbooks or shelters – it’s billions,” the minister commented. Oksen Lisovy noted that it is difficult to introduce reforms in the conditions of war. This is due to the large expenses of the state budget for the defense of the country. “Another issue is that with the correct formulation of the problem, with the correct vision of its solution, we can attract donor funds, although they are not always sufficient,” said the head of the Ministry of Education and Culture.
