Viral hepatitis in Vinnytsia region: 174 people fell ill

As of October 30, 174 people have a confirmed diagnosis of hepatitis A in the Vinnytsia region.
In the region, the vaccination of doctors who are in contact with patients has begun, the Ministry of Health reports.
Currently, doctors who work in hospitals with patients with hepatitis A, emergency medical workers and public health specialists involved in the elimination of the outbreak are being vaccinated.

“Vaccination is also provided for the close environment of patients with a confirmed diagnosis, in particular families who live together or relatives with whom they were in contact on the eve of the disease”– the Ministry of Health notes.
In addition, another 1,100 doses of hepatitis A vaccines were delivered to Vinnytsia for vaccination of children and vaccination in closed groups.
Currently, 174 patients, including 29 children, are receiving inpatient treatment with a confirmed diagnosis of hepatitis.
Another 25 patients have already recovered and have been discharged from hospitals.
According to the chief state sanitary doctor Ihor Kuzin, the causative agent of the disease has not yet been identified.
“Control and epidemiological safety groups are working in parallel on the investigation of 4 factors of the outbreak. More than 100 people whose work is related to public service, food and other epidemically dangerous areas, in particular at markets and spontaneous points of sale of products, have already been examined”he noted.
We previously reported that hepatitis was detected in 141 patients in Vinnytsia, and schoolchildren are being transferred to online education.
