Ukrainian animal rights activists are increasingly rescuing beavers that enter “human” territories during spring migration. The stories of the rescue of rodents were told at the Kyiv Animal Rescue Group, the Center for the Rescue of Wild Animals and the State Emergency Service. The capital team of animal rescuers KARG saved 9 beavers in the last month alone. Then the animal was returned to the natural environment. “Everything is fine with the beaver, he has returned to the wild to continue his usual beaver life,” the Rescue Center shared updates. Another beaver accidentally wandered into the yard in the village of Severynivka, Buchansky district. The owner called Kyiv Animal Rescue Group, which took the beaver to the Center. The beaver is currently under surveillance and receiving care. The fluffy guest from Severynivka is now in the Rescue Center. There were also cases when rescuers found injured rodents. On April 3, a resident of Kyiv noticed an injured beaver in his private yard in Troyeschyna. Beaver came to a private house, where he was attacked by dogs. Khmelnytskyi emergency workers rescued a beaver that got into the fountain. “Careful people called the rescuers and reported that in the city of Netishyn, a beaver had fallen into a non-functioning decorative fountain. The animal could not get out on its own, so rescuers and concerned townspeople came to help,” the State Emergency Service said. The frightened beaver was caught and released. What to do if you see a beaver that is stuck or lost? If you encounter any wild animal – do not approach, do not try to make friends, take selfies for social networks, etc. Any beaver will attack if you approach it closely, says Mykhailo Storozhuk. “Even if the animal is cute and fluffy, it has claws and teeth, and your sincere intentions to make friends will be perceived quite the opposite. So, most likely, such a close acquaintance will not end in anything good,” – explain animal rescuers. In the event that a wild animal is in natural conditions and appears healthy, do not prevent it from continuing to do its business. If the beaver has fallen somewhere, can’t get out through the fence or has suffered some other calamity, call the rescuers immediately.
