A virtual map has appeared on which you can find Ukrainian books abroad. Most of them were created after the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the terrorist country Russia in Ukraine. Now the map shows 388 spaces in 22 countries where Ukrainian books are placed. The project was implemented by the sites about literature and reading Chitomo and Litsentr. Worldwide, Currently, the map shows spaces from 22 countries of the world, namely: Austria, Belgium, Greece, Spain, Italy, Canada, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, South Korea, Portugal, the Republic of Cyprus, Romania, Slovakia , Hungary, Finland, France, Czech Republic, Switzerland. One of the leaders is Germany – there are 140 bookshelves. The vast majority of sites (70%) exist at libraries. More than 9% are located at public, charitable organizations, foundations, unions. 7.8% – at educational institutions and spaces. About 4% of the shelves were created at information spaces, centers for refugees and displaced people. The other 6.5% is distributed among embassies, publishing houses, bookstores and cultural institutions. Currently, on the website you can familiarize yourself with the map of the shelves, the text of the study about their activities, as well as the advisor for creating a Ukrainian bookshelf and book selections with which you can fill the shelves. The results are available in Ukrainian and English. “If earlier libraries purchased only Russian books, and readers have long been used to finding Ukrainian books even in the “Foreign Language Literature” department, we believe that thanks to volunteers, public associations and, of course, the extremely high-quality products of Ukrainian publishing houses, this the situation has changed significantly. Photo: press service The research was carried out during October-December last year with the support of the Stabilization Fund for Culture and Education of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany and the Goethe-Institut. The partners of the project were the Ukrainian Book Institute, the Ukrainian Library Association, the German Library Association, the Goethe-Institut in Ukraine, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
