What medical examinations are free for veterans?  NSZU explains


In Ukraine, many diagnostic examinations are free for veterans, as well as for all Ukrainians, when visiting a family doctor.

The National Health Service of Ukraine explained how veterans can receive free medical care under the Medical Guarantee Program.

“In order to draw up a treatment plan for any disease, the patient must undergo a series of examinations. Necessary instrumental examinations, such as X-ray, gastroscopy, etc., are free of charge for everyone who needs them.

Funds for medical facilities are paid by the state through the National Health Service”the department says.

Which examinations should be free for veterans?

electrocardiography;

otoscopy;

peakflowmetry/spirometry;

ophthalmoscopy;

measuring visual acuity.

If the patient needs additional instrumental studies, the family doctor should create an appropriate electronic referral.

With this referral, a veteran can undergo an examination in those institutions that have a contract with the National Health Service under the “Prevention, diagnosis, observation and treatment in outpatient conditions” package.

Under this package, if the hospital has the appropriate equipment, the following examinations will be free of charge:

X-ray, including computed tomography;

MRI;

scintigraphy;

ultrasound;

gastroscopy;

esophagoduodenoscopy;

duodenoscopy;

rectomanoscopy;

colonoscopy;

cystoscopy;

arthroscopy;

hysteroscopy;

bronchoscopy;

colposcopy;

electrocardiography (ECG);

electroencephalography (EEG);

spirography;

Holter monitoring;

a number of ophthalmological studies (ophthalmometry, ophthalmoscopy, etc.);

hearing research (audiometry, tympanometry, etc.).

The full list of instrumental studies can be viewed on the NSZU website.

All these examinations should also be free of charge if the veteran is being treated in a hospital.
