When the clocks are changed to “winter” time in Ukraine

On the night of October 29, Ukraine will switch to “winter” time.

Accordingly, the hands of the clock will need to be turned back one hour, according to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers dated May 13, 1996.

According to the document, the transition to “winter” time takes place every year in on the last Sunday of October at 4 o’clock at night.

This year it falls on Sunday October 29.

At the same time, the transition to summer time takes place on the last Sunday of March at 3 o’clock, when the time must be moved forward by 1 hour.

The tradition of “summer” and “winter” time in Ukraine has been in effect since the time of the USSR, starting in 1981. The main reasons were the conservation of electricity and the extension of the daylight hours.

In 2021, the Council registered a draft law, according to which the parliamentarians want to suspend the seasonal change of clocks and leave Ukraine on “winter” time. The document is still being reviewed and finalized.

We will remind, according to scientists, the transition to daylight saving time is more difficult for a person, however, the “extra” hour also has its effect.
