The academic year should last until the end of June 2024, but each educational institution determines the start date of the vacation.

At the same time, pedagogical councils should take into account how much studying in war conditions affected students, whether there are educational losses and what activities will be the most effective to overcome them, the Ministry of Education and Science reported.

During martial law, the length of the academic year is established by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. He determined that 2023/2024 is the academic year lasts from September 1, 2023 to June 28, 2024.

“According to this law, the pedagogical council of the educational institution determines the structure and duration of the academic year, i.e. the date of completion of classes, frequency and duration of vacations, etc.” – the MES explained.

This also applies to the date of the last bell – the pedagogical council determines the date and format of the holiday.

At the same time, the ministry reminded that schoolchildren and students should have at least 30 calendar days of vacation during the year.

Educational institutions are also advised to hold additional classes, consultations, excursions, etc. in June.
