Zelensky signed the law on medical cannabis

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed the law on medical cannabis.
The document describes the scope and purpose of using this plant, according to the website of the Verkhovna Rada.
The law creates normative conditions for the legal limited circulation and use of plants of the hemp genus (Cannabis), its resin, extracts and tinctures for medical, industrial purposes, scientific and scientific and technical activities.
Legalization is necessary for the treatment of cancer and post-traumatic stress disorders caused by war.
The law enters into force six months after its promulgation.
We will remind you that in July 2023, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a draft law on the legalization of medical cannabis in the first reading. Then the People’s Deputies introduced more than 800 amendments to the draft law.
The Parliamentary Committee on the Health of the Nation recommended that the Council adopt the draft law with changes.
The National Security and Defense Council, the Ministry of Veterans Affairs and more than 40 oncologists of Ukraine also called for the adoption of the draft law.
And so it happened – in December 2023, the draft law was adopted in the second reading.
