This year, large central fountains will not be turned on in Kyiv for reasons of saving electricity.

At the same time, they will work in parks and squares, reported in the Kyiv City State Administration.

As noted in the institution, the fountains on the Independence Square and in the water area of the Rusanivsky Canal are quite energy-consuming.

In particular, we are talking about fountains:

  • “Big”, “Cascade” and “Small” on Independence Square;
  • “Founders of Kyiv” on the odd side of Khreshchatyk Street;
  • “Water Ball” on Maidan Nezalezhnosti (odd side of Khreshchatyk Street);
  • “Khreshchatyk” on Khreshchatyk Street, 25;
  • on Velyka Vasylkivska Street, 119-121;
  • in the water area of the Rusaniv channel.

However, local fountains that consume less electricity will operate in parks and squares of the capital.

In the first half of May, 25 such fountains will be put into operation. They will work until the end of September.
