Where the ombudsman recorded violations of the language law most often in 2023: areas

In 2023, the most for violation of the language law according to the results of state control were recorded in the service sector – 33, and in educational institutions – 14.
This was reported in the Office of the Language Ombudsman.
In addition, the following were discovered during the past year:
- 13 violations of the language law by officials of state authorities and local self-government;
- 8 – in the field of health care;
- and 8 in the field of user interfaces of computer programs and websites.
“Individual cases of abuse were recorded during public events and in culture, during the preparation of normative acts, in record keeping and document management”, – the ombudsman’s office says.

They add that about 80% of established violations have been eliminated.
According to the Ombudsman, as a result of state control measures, violations were recorded in 12 regions of Ukraine and 11 regional centers.
The most in Kyiv and Odesa – 22 and 12, respectively. It is also about:
- Dnipro;
- Zaporizhzhia;
- Lviv;
- Mykolaiv;
- Poltava;
- Uzhgorod;
- Kharkiv;
- Khmelnytskyi;
- Chernihiv
It will be recalled that in 2023 the language ombudsman received a record number of appeals.
Earlier we reported that the ombudsman fined a taxi driver who had a scandal with female passengers because of the requirement to communicate in Ukrainian.
