The official teaser of the Ukrainian musical drama “Kings of Rap” directed by Myroslav Latyk has been released. The tape will be widely distributed in the summer of 2023. The Ukrainian premiere of the film Latyka took place at the Odesa Film Festival in 2021. However, the full-scale war delayed the release of the “Kings of Rap” on the big screen. “Kings of Rap” is a coming-of-age story that combines a criminal intrigue and a love story mixed with Ukrainian rap. According to the plot, a 17-year-old graduate of a rural school nicknamed Kazan (played by Mykhailo Dzyuba) dreams of becoming a famous rapper and conquering the heart of his girlfriend. Heading towards his dreams, Kazan is ready to take risks, but circumstances direct his life in a different direction. Ukrainian singer Wellboy (Anton Velboy) also played one of the main roles in the film. The composer and sound producer of the film was the Ukrainian musician Cepasa. Artists such as Kalush, Kazka and Krechet wrote their songs for “Kings of Rap”. Myroslav Latyk is a Ukrainian film director. The director-producer of the TV series “Stringer” (2011) and “Capture” (2013), as well as the director-producer and screenwriter of the first Ukrainian web series “5baksiv.net”. In 2019, he shot his first full-length film “Khalepa na 5 baksiv”. He is also the director of the first in the history of Ukrainian cinematographic adaptation of the comic – “Maxim Osa: Gold of the Dog” (2022).
