After the explosion of the Kakhovskaya HPP, experts from the Ministry of Health predicted water pollution. We study water from chemistry, and they study from biology,” Oleg Pavlenko said. At the same time, the State Environmental Inspection of Ukraine stated that no significant excess concentrations of pollutants were found in the water samples. The chief sanitary doctor of Ukraine, Ihor Kuzin, noted on the air of the telethon that cholera pathogens were not found during monitoring in the Mykolaiv, Kherson and Odesa regions. “We ensured the expansion of monitoring points for drinking water. I would like to say right away that we do not find cholera in sea and river water. But at the same time, in Odesa, we have been finding rotavirus for several days in a row – this is a common acute intestinal infection, a viral infection. swimming, using water bodies, and when swallowing, a person can get an acute intestinal infection,” Kuzin said. He added that water is being monitored at 40 points in three regions. All patients admitted to hospitals with acute intestinal infection and severe digestive disorders are additionally screened for cholera. For example, 172 such studies were conducted in Odesa region. The chief sanitary doctor reminded of the simple rules that will protect against infectious diseases: do not swim in the sea and rivers while the water is contaminated due to the spillage of water from the Kakhov reservoir; use only potable, bottled or purified water in flooded areas. “We also draw the public’s attention to the fact that for the time being, it is better not to buy fish for a few hours, especially at unauthorized points of sale, since we really do not exclude the fact that because of the sea, a certain part of the fish can be resold by unscrupulous citizens and also prepared in improper conditions.” , – added Kuzin. We will remind that as a result of the explosion of the Kakhovskaya HPP, water from the reservoir of the same name spilled down the Dnipro riverbed. Because of this, a number of settlements, gas stations, cemeteries, cesspools, etc. were flooded. Experts warned about the dangers of using such water and how it should be disinfected in an emergency.
