28-year-old junior sergeant Mykola Myalkovsky was killed while performing a combat mission.

This was reported at the National University “Ostroh Academy“, where the fighter once studied. The information was also confirmed by the defender’s mother Tetyana Myalkovska.

“My son died as a Hero while fulfilling his sacred duty for the freedom of Ukraine. This is a very expensive price for me. The only, best son in the world!

On the first day of the war, he wrote a statement at work in the Lublin City Council and came home for protection. For me, this is the feat and decision of a real man. My heart is broken. You have always been an example and an inspiration to me.” – she said on social networks.

The mother of the fallen soldier added that on December 6 Mykola will be brought home to Lutsk on a shield. The funeral will take place on Thursday, December 7, at 12.00 in the Central Cathedral.

Many of his acquaintances reacted to the soldier’s death on social networks.

“What unspeakable horror. Such news is simply misleading.

I taught under Mykola Myalkovsky from the first year, I remember him and the group well. Open, intelligent, fair. The last time they were in contact was when they were undergoing accreditation, he was one of the invited cultural studies graduates”– wrote professor of Ostroh Academy Maksym Karpovets.

Teacher Maria Petrushkevich noted that it is difficult to even think about Mykola’s death, not to accept it as a fait accompli.

“I remember Kolya from his student years, from his junior years. He was just a child. A tall, stocky child. And completely imperceptibly, at least for me, in a few years he became an adult, a man.

Kolya was always interesting and pleasant to talk to. A handsome man who had the right thoughts in his head. The last time I met him was in a cafe in Rivne in 2017. Then we talked about the future and prospects”she recalls.

Maria Petrushkevich adds that Mykola was a true patriot and a person with a capital letter.

Mykhailo Onufer, a friend and comrade of the fighter, thanked him for being there in difficult times during the Revolution of Dignity.

“Thank you for returning to the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2022. Forever in the ranks”he wrote.

Mykola was also mentioned by Andrii Senkiv, with whom they studied together at the Buchach College.

“He was educated, stylish. And absolutely not blindsided, without stupid stereotypical jokes and with a very clear head. He was from Lutsk himself, the son of an artist, about whom he often talked.

I wanted to reach out to him, but, of course, I didn’t tell him that, because there is a hierarchy – he is younger. But there was no hazing – he often entered our seniors’ rooms. And we even shared food, for example, sausage”– recalls Andrii.

He adds that after their paths diverged, the boys followed each other in social networks, communicated, reacted.

“You know, it’s not friendship – it’s more like a pleasant feeling. You can see for yourself – Myalkovsky is a good guy, he’s getting fit, he’s playing basketball. It’s great. But as of yesterday, from December 4, 2023, that won’t happen anymore. Because Mykola killed by the Russians in the war. For which he came from Lublin – he could not sit there.”– Senkiv notes sadly.

By the way, in 2023, Mykola Myalkowski told the Polish media why he returned to Ukraine during the full-scale invasion and voluntarily went to war.
