In Kharkiv, 75-year-old Japanese volunteer Fuminori Tsuchiko, who hid from shelling in the subway for 8 months, opened a free cafe. A Japanese citizen came to Ukraine in January 2022 as a tourist. The foreigner visited places related to the Second World War, went to Poland to see Nazi concentration camps. I came to Kyiv to see Babyn Yar. On February 24, 2022, Fuminori was in Warsaw and saw thousands of refugees from Ukraine at the train station. The Japanese decided to support the Ukrainians. He returned to Kyiv, and in May went to Kharkiv. For a while, he lived at a metro station, bought food and things for the people of Kharkiv with his own pension, and also organized events for children. The man sold his house in his homeland.
