Galina Fedyshyn, a combat medic of the marine brigade, who was freed from Russian captivity during the largest exchange that took place on January 3, became engaged to her beloved brother Mykola Hrytsenyak.

Serhii Volynskyi (“Volyn”), the commander of the 36th separate marine infantry brigade, announced this on the social network.

According to “Volyn”, the couple went through the battles for Mariupol together, endured the ordeal of captivity and a long separation.

This love has survived tests that can break the strongest. A couple of Ukrainian marines showed that true feelings know no obstacles, even when it’s “hell on earth“, – wrote the commander of the 36th separate marine infantry brigade.

Volyn added that Halyna Fedyshyn is the last girl marine who was captured by the enemy.

According to Armiya.Inform, Halyna comes from Ivano-Frankivsk region. The girl comes from a large family: her parents raised five sons and four daughters. Halyna signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine back in 2016. Before that, she worked as a nurse in a civilian hospital for a year.

In October 2016, Halyna went to Luhansk Region as part of the medical and nursing team of the Vinnytsia Mobile Hospital. There, she participated in the evacuation of wounded soldiers to a medical facility and provided them with first aid.

Later, Halyna joined the ranks of the Separate Marine Brigade named after Rear Admiral Mykhailo Bilinskyi, where she continued to save the lives of Ukrainian soldiers as a combat medic.

In the trenches on the demarcation line in the Donetsk region, the girl met her love – marine Mykola Hrytsenyak. A large Russian invasion caught the lovers in Donetsk region.

Under the onslaught of the enemy, their unit withdrew from positions near Mariupol to the territory of the Ilyich plant, then to “Azovstal”. During fierce fighting, the girl was wounded.

In May 2022, together with Mykola and other brothers, she escaped from “Azovstal” as a prisoner. Behind Russian bars, the couple did not have the opportunity to see each other. Mykola returned from captivity a few months ago, and only then was he able to find out that Galya was alive.

Mykola confessed to Galina at the very first meeting after 20 months of separation.
