Ukraine received an expensive drug of the new generation for the treatment of viral hepatitis C in children manufactured by Gilead Sciences. This is reported by the Public Health Center. The drug has a direct effect, so the body affected by the hepatitis C virus responds better and faster to such therapy. Also, the probability of side effects that were possible when taking drugs of the previous generation is reduced, say the Central Health Service. The Central Health Service reminds that in Ukraine 5% of the population is infected with hepatitis C and 1.5% with hepatitis B. Hepatitis is a liver disease, which in most cases is of a viral nature. The most dangerous are hepatitis B and C. Diseases are transmitted through infected blood and biological fluids.
