In Prykarpattia, the “Light of the Carpathians” sanatorium, in which 150 children rested, burned down. There were no injuries, but the children burned all their belongings and suffered stress.

Yuliya Boyko, a native of Kyiv, whose 8-year-old daughter went to the children’s camp for the first time, told about the emergency situation.

“It was the scariest day of my life,” – the woman writes.

According to her, on September 25 at 2:00 p.m., 150 children settled in the “Siayvo Karpat” recreation center, and at 5:00 p.m. a fire broke out, as a result of which the complex was completely burned down.

“The children miraculously survived. I’m afraid to think what could have happened. The thought makes my heart stop.” – Yulia shares.

The complex is completely wooden. According to the woman, the likely cause of the emergency is a wiring short.

Julia says that the children ran out into the street in whatever they were wearing: all their things burned to the ground.

She says that the children were hysterical, and no one informed the parents about the event: they learned about the fire from the children.

“For several hours, the responsible persons did not answer any of the shocked parents, most of the children were left without phones. For hours, the children stood naked/barefoot and waited to see what the caretakers would do to them. After several hours of this horror, the children were taken to another camp. Then they changed it on the way for one more” – writes Yulia.

According to the woman, the children were placed in another camp only at night, at 11 p.m. they were given a sandwich and sent to bed.

Yulia reached her daughter around 6:00 a.m. on September 26.

“In a state of wild shock from what I experienced, I was still looking for the child in the rooms, because the 18-year-old girl of the counselor stupidly did not know who was where!!! After taking the child, we went to look for a place to feed her, because the last time she ate was 16 hours ago.” , – writes the child’s mother.

Yulia and her daughter went to the fire and saw that only the window frame remained from the girl’s room.

“The child’s psychological state is terrible. I am gray-haired and will be in a state of shock for a long time. Absolutely all of the child’s belongings were burned, because she decided to take everything there, even school textbooks, so as not to miss her studies.” – says the woman.

Yulia Boyko demands the punishment of those responsible for putting children in danger.

“How did they give permission to accommodate 150 children without making sure of fire safety? Who warmed their hands at the recreation of the children who miraculously survived? We were sent by the Department of Youth and Sports of the Sviatoshynsk RDA of Kyiv. The incompetence and attitude towards children is astounding! I demand an answer from the KMDA about this terrible incident!” – the woman wrote.

Military Oleksandr Bondarenko, the father of children who were also on vacation in the camp, also reported about the fire.

“For the first time in my life, my daughters went to a sanatorium. The girls are whole, but without their belongings.” he wrote.
