In the Khmelnytsky region, the “black archaeologist” appropriated a find worth half a million hryvnias. He was detained and reported as suspicious, the General Prosecutor’s Office said. The investigators established that the man was digging without a permit. “During these works, he found a unique treasure of the III century – Goth belts, silver, copper, casting, forging, plating. These objects belong to the decorative and applied art of ancient Germans during the period when they migrated through the territory of modern Ukraine from Northern Europe to Black of the sea,” the prosecutors explained. According to experts, the value of the treasure exceeds UAH 590,000. Currently, all artifacts have been transferred to the National Museum of Ukraine.
