A 41-year-old Ukrainian was detained by border guards when he tried to illegally transport 124 antiques across the border.
As reported by the State Border Service of Ukraine, the man was traveling to Romania through the Porubne checkpoint in the Chernivtsi region.
“Having information about the possible illegal movement of valuables across the border, operatives of the Chernivtsi border detachment initiated a more detailed check of the citizen’s car and belongings“, the DPSU noted.
Among the driver’s belongings, the border guard and customs representatives found items that probably constitute cultural value and are subject to the Law of Ukraine “On Export, Import and Return of Cultural Values”.
Antiquities were removed.
