As of October 2023, about 5% of national and regional media sites do not have a Ukrainian version.

This is evidenced by the results of the study “Ukrainian language in the Ukrainian mass media and in social networks”, reports Taras Kremin, Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language.

It is about 35 national and 60 regional media.

The lack of a Ukrainian-language version of the online publication is a violation of the language law, says Kremin.

During the study of Ukrainian media sites, 1,924 resources were analyzed – 566 national and 1,358 regional portals.

On them, the Ukrainian-language version of the site is loaded by default in 81% of national media and 85% of regional media.

In the remaining cases, the Russian version or a mixed web page with a mixture of Ukrainian and Russian languages is opened.

Positive dynamics are felt both at the national and regional levels. In the regions where we see systemic violations, we still do not have approved regional language programs, in particular, I am talking about Kharkiv and Odesa“, – noted Taras Kremin.
