Almost two years without parents: another child was returned from the occupation

A child who was in the temporarily occupied territory of the Zaporizhia region for almost two years was returned to the controlled territory of Ukraine

This was reported in the Ministry of Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories.

In December 2023, a woman named Maria contacted the department. She asked for help to return her young daughter from the temporarily occupied territory of the Zaporizhzhia region.

“At the time of the start of the full-scale war, the girl was visiting her grandparents there. They could not leave right away, as the grandmother was seriously ill.

It was not possible to transport it. It was also risky to take the girl alone from her parents“, the message says.

Maria asked for help when her grandmother passed away. After almost two years, the family reunited.

The return of the child to the territory controlled by Ukraine took place within the framework of the “Way Home” project. According to the department, within the framework of this project, 56 children have already been returned

We will remind, at the beginning of February, 4 children under the age of 16 were returned from the occupied territories of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions. The youngest of them is not even a year old.
