In Volyn, a 34-year-old local resident stole a horse from a farm and rode it to a nearby village.

In his justification, he explained that he “loves” these animals, the Lutsk District Police Department reports.

On November 25, a 47-year-old citizen contacted the police, reporting that a horse had been stolen from her farm in the village of Ozertsi.

On the same day, the law enforcement officers established the whereabouts of the intruder and the animal. They were discovered in a nearby village.

The thief turned out to be a 34-year-old resident of Volodymyr district.

The police found out that the man entered the farm, where there were several horses, and chose the calmest of them.

After that, the man got on his horse and rode to another village.

After driving about 15 kilometers, he left the animal with friends, inventing a legend that his cart with a horse had an accident. When he was detained by the police, he said that loves horses very much“, the police say.

Criminal proceedings were opened against the man for theft committed during martial law (Part 4 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code).

The sanction of the article provides from 5 to 8 years of imprisonment.

It is noted that the man has already been convicted of theft. He was released from prison this year.
