A physical education teacher who lost an arm at the front, 5 months after rehabilitation, was able to throw a basketball into the basket with a bionic arm.

His story was told in the Nezlamni rehabilitation center.

32-year-old Valentin Anokhin, alias “Fizruk”, hails from the Rivne region. Before the full-scale invasion, he worked as a physical education teacher. In the spring of 2022, the teacher was mobilized into the army.

In the summer of 2023, in the Kupyansk-Lymansk direction, Valentyn was seriously wounded – a tank shell exploded three meters from him. Valentin miraculously survived, but lost his left arm.

After the rehabilitation period, he was very worried about whether he would be able to teach the children to play basketball again and make “three-point” shots. However, an ordinary prosthesis does not provide such an opportunity. That is why Valentina was given a bionic limb.

“I was really looking forward to my artificial hand. After the injury, I was used to doing a lot with one hand. But when I put on the prosthesis, I felt how much easier my daily routine was. Now I can do everything twice as fast.” – said the defender.

The bionic arm returned Valentin’s ability to play basketball – he was able to shoot a “three-pointer”.

Whether the defender will be able to return to teaching or whether he will remain in military service is currently unknown. This decision will be made by the military medical commission.
