Antarctic penguins occupied the weather field of Ukrainian meteorologists near the “Akademik Vernadsky” station.
Currently, there are almost 200 penguins near the station, which are returning en masse for the mating season, reports in National Antarctic Science Center.
“Near Vernadskyi, the penguins occupied a working space – a meteorological field with various devices. Our scientists are in shock and do not know how to continue observing and sending information to global databases. Of course, we are joking.” – say polar explorers.
As told in the center, the birds liked the rain gauge (a special bucket in which precipitation accumulates) and the actinometric complex, which measures the level of solar radiation, the most.

“Polar bears and penguins coexist perfectly here together. Our meteorologists calmly make their way to their devices and take the necessary readings, trying not to scare the birds. They are already used to such “two-legged” neighbors and almost do not react to them.” – they say in the center.

There are more than 2.6 thousand penguins on Galindez Island, where the “Akademik Vernadskyi” station is located.
