A 27-year-old man will be tried in Khmelnytskyi region, who defrauded the mother of a dead serviceman for over 300,000 hryvnias.

The suspect made up stories about a sick relative and service in the army and asked for money, the Khmelnytskyi Regional Prosecutor’s Office reports.

As the law enforcement officers found out, in February of last year, a local resident of the city of Krasyliv found out through social networks that his friend’s son had died in the war zone.

The man realized that the woman would receive cash payments from the state, so he turned to her “for help.”

“At first he said that his mother was seriously ill and urgently needed funds for treatment.

Later, the man asked for money for the funeral. And then he invented that he was in a war zone and it was extremely necessary to purchase military equipment, a car and other household items.”the prosecutor’s office reports.

Every time, the woman sympathized with the accused, so she transferred money to him – in total, more than 300 thousand hryvnias.

After some time, the deceived woman saw the man in the city and when she realized that she had been deceived, she turned to the police.

The police opened a case of fraud (Part 2 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The accused was previously held criminally liable for committing property crimes, the prosecutor’s office adds.

Earlier, we reported that in Bukovyna, a guy robbed people, offering a job, the purpose of which was to sort the office.
