In Ukraine, there is a state program that helps couples who have difficulty conceiving become parents. For the patient, the treatment is free of charge, all funds of the medical institution are paid by the state, the Ministry of Health informs. For the treatment of infertility within the program, the method of assisted reproductive technologies (ART) is used. “This is a system of methods in which some stages of fertilization (for example, obtaining germ cells or embryos) take place outside the body,” the department explains. The first course of treatment is currently carried out in three medical facilities: the Clinic of Reproductive Technologies of the NUOZ named after P. L. Shupyk (Kyiv); Carpathian Center of Human Reproduction (Ivano-Frankivsk); Ukrainian Medical Center of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproduction (Kharkiv). The Ministry recalled the algorithm of actions that patients participating in the program must go through: medical documentation with a complete list of examinations of a woman at her place of residence is sent to the commission of the local department/health care management. After consideration, the DOZ/UOZ commission sends documents with conclusions to the commission of the Ministry of Health. The commission of the Ministry of Health examines the medical documentation and makes a decision on referral to one of the medical facilities for treatment at the state’s expense. DOZ/UOZ provides the woman with the necessary information and directs her to treatment. We previously reported that according to the WHO, approximately one in six people in the world suffers from infertility.
