How Ukrainians congratulated their defenders: a selection of wishes

Today, Ukraine celebrates the Day of Defenders on October 1 for the first time. Such changes took place after the Orthodox and Greek Catholic churches of Ukraine switched to a new calendar. Previously, the day was tied to the Feast of the Intercession, which was celebrated on October 14.
Many cities stopped in the morning to honor the memory of their heroes – at 9 in the morning there was a moment of silence for those who died. In social networks, no one forgot about the exploits of the defenders.
All defenders were congratulated in the video by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny. He reminded everyone who defends and helps: from the Armed Forces, SBU, policemen to doctors, rescue workers, energy workers and teachers.
In addition, Zaluzhny added that the enemy will not be able to destroy our state – and we prove it every day on every piece of land.
“May God protect you and the Protection of the Holy Mother of God. Thank you, every Protector and every Protector”, – says the Commander-in-Chief.
The National Guard of Ukraine posted a sensual video that reminds of the strong spirit of Ukrainians.
“We lose brothers and sisters, we mourn relatives, we lose loved ones. We chose not to run away, but to fight. We dream, mourn, laugh, train. We fight for the right to live. We protect our native land. Our actions will be remembered generation all over the world. Happy Defender of Ukraine Day! Together to Victory!” – says a voice-over proudly, while various military personnel appear on the video.
Border guards also congratulated. It reminded them of the transformation from yesterday’s teachers, carpenters into warriors who go to victory.

Activists, public figures, and others congratulated themselves and their defenders.
“Congratulations and thank you. You and your families. All who protect us on earth. And especially those who protect us in heaven. And they do it. I believe and I know“, author and medical editor Nataliya Bushkovska wrote.
At the same time, professor and doctor Olga Bogomolets reminded about the historical significance of this war and glorious ancestors: from Volodymyr Monomakh, Cossacks and rebels of past centuries. She emphasized once again: Ukrainians have something to fight for – and this is the only cathedral Ukraine with a free and happy people.
Dmytro Zhivylo, director of the public organization, also thanked everyone who protects our country with their lives.
“You protect us, but try to protect yourself too!
Eternal bow to those who gave their lives for the life of Ukraine!
Eternal gratitude to those who continue to defend our freedom!” – he writes.
The writer Olena Pavlova congratulated the defenders with an original postcard depicting them as cats and kittens.
And Halyna Derkach, who works in a travel company, thanked her for her dedication, courage and feats every day.
