“Eris” is a variant of the SARS-CoV-2 “Omicron” coronavirus strain. It was first registered on February 17, 2023.
“The specific difference of “Eris” is an additional mutation of the spike protein, which more quickly affects the weakened immune system. However, according to WHO estimates, the global public health risk of the population of this strain is assessed as low.” – they say in the Ministry of Health.
The symptoms of “Eris” are the same as those of other strains:
- sore throat;
- cold;
- dyspnea;
- body ache;
- headache;
- fever.
According to the Ministry of Health, in the period from October 2 to 8, 5,186 cases of COVID-19 were registered in Ukraine. 18 of them are fatal, among people over 30 years old.
“The basis for protection against a severe course of COVID-19 is a course of three vaccinations. Receiving two doses of the primary vaccination and a booster vaccination, which is administered 5 months after the primary vaccination,” – the ministry notes.
We will remind you that earlier the Ministry of Health told whether the 4th and 5th vaccination against COVID-19 should be given.
