In Australia, a woman was attacked by a shark: the victim was saved

Lauren O’Neill, 29, was bitten on the leg by a shark while she was swimming in Sydney Harbour. Local residents, hearing her screams, provided first aid, stopped the bleeding and helped her get to the hospital.
Doctors operated on the injured leg all night to save it from amputation, writes CNN.
A witness to the incident, Michael Porter, said he had just returned from work when he heard “a soft cry for help”. He rushed there and saw that O’Neill was holding on to a ladder attached to the pier, and the water around him was already red with blood.
“It was like the worst horror movie you’ve ever seen.” said Porter.

Local veterinarian Fiona Crago also heard the victim’s screams and rushed to the pier with two compression bandages. She bandaged the wound with them and stopped the bleeding.
Later, Lauren was taken to the hospital, where doctors tried to save her leg. She was badly injured, so there was a risk of amputation. Fortunately, everything went well. In her statement, O’Neill praised the life-saving help provided by bystanders, medical personnel and police.
“Her probable full recovery is a testament to their extraordinary skills,” – said in a statement published by the hospital.
Judging by the bites and the photos provided, Lauren O’Neill was probably attacked by a bull shark. They are large in size, aggressive in nature, usually found in warm shallow water, but can survive in fresh water and have been known to swim up rivers.
Sydney Harbor is a well-known habitat for bull sharks, but attacks are rare.
