In Cherkasy region, three people fell under the ice while rescuing a drowning dog

In the village of Chornobay, in the Cherkasy region, those who did not care rushed to save the dog and fell under the ice. Employees of the State Emergency Service pulled them out.

The incident happened on February 4 in the village of Chornobay on the Irklii River. The boy fell into the water while trying to save his dog, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported.

In a comment for “UP.Zhyttia”, the spokeswoman of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Cherkasy region, Yuliya Norovkova, said that local residents came to his aid. Those who were concerned called the police and rescuers.

Eyewitnesses told the emergency services that the owner of the dog saw his four-legged pet drowning in the river. He rushed to save him, but fell under the ice. Two other bystanders came to help the boy and the animal, but they too became hostages of the water.

Another local resident was not confused and threw a rope to the drowning people. This helped them all reach the shore before emergency personnel arrived.

“People were pulled out before we arrived, so we met the adventurers already on the shore. They were all in a state of shock and showing signs of hypothermia.”the spokeswoman said.

Yuliya Norovkova noted that two victims were hospitalized, another refused medical help. The owner took the dog home.

Since the beginning of the year, the head office of the State Emergency Service of the Cherkasy region has recorded 11 incidents on water bodies, as a result of which two people died, and 19 people were rescued. One child is among the rescued.

So the rescuers call to watch out for their four-legged friends, as well as to observe safety rules on water bodies in winter.
