In England, a lonely “Santa’s helper”, a reindeer named Sven, was found a mate before Christmas.

The deer was grieving after the sudden death of his friend Klaus, so the owner of a farm in East Yorkshire started looking for a companion for him.

Sven’s new girlfriend was 3-year-old Daisy from Dorset, and it was “love at first sight”.

The happy story of the deer couple was told by the BBC, Dorset.Live and SWNS news agency.

Lonely deer Sven from England found a friend. The owner of the farm says that he is now happy!

Little Haven Farm in Yorkshire is owned by 40-year-old primary school teacher Susie Wright and her family.

The woman purchased the plot in October 2020 and immediately settled reindeer Sven and Klaus there.

Reindeer or caribou are exactly the deer that in English folklore “accompany” Santa when he delivers gifts to children. Sven and Klaus helped local schoolchildren feel the spirit of Christmas even during the pandemic.

But in September of this year, Klaus fell ill and died suddenly. She and Sven were separated just then for the rutting season – the annual mating season, during which male deer clash their horns and prove their dominance.

Sven is very gentle and likes to communicate with people. When the farm is closed, he follows Susie’s family members around like a dog, allowing himself to be hugged. However, he needs to live with members of his species, Susie told reporters.

The woman was afraid that the deer would die of loneliness if she did not find a mate quickly, so she started looking for a new pet on the Internet.

For Sven, they specifically looked for a female, so that the deer would not have to be separated even during the race. A friend for Sven was found in the county of Dorset – this is a 3-year-old female reindeer named Daisy.

Having covered more than 400 kilometers, Daisy “came” to her new friend in Yorkshire

Susie wanted to buy an animal before Christmas, but she didn’t have enough money, so she started a fundraiser and asked for help on social media.

“Reindeer need to be with others because they can’t survive on their own for long periods of time. They can see people, but it’s not the same as socializing with their own kind.

He’s a herd animal that gets very, very lonely – and he can die.”the woman wrote.

The farm managed to collect 4 thousand pounds. In the end, after covering more than 400 kilometers, Daisy “arrived” at her new friend in Yorkshire.

Susie recalls that Sven and Daisy met “a bit nervously” at first, but it was “love at first sight”.

Now the deer share food and snuggle up to each other at night. Maybe someday the deer will mate and become parents.

“Potentially it is possible because he is not spayed, but everything is happening gradually. We will see what happens. Nature is amazing. We did not look for a female just for this, but we will see, maybe it will happen.”– adds the owner of the farm.
