In Kyiv, a fraudster who collected money for orphans was exposed: details

An 18-year-old girl who allegedly collected funds for orphans, but actually spent them on her own needs, will be tried in Kyiv.

As reported at the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office, a pseudo-volunteer pretended to be an employee of one of the charitable foundations, but, as it turned out, she had no relation to it and did not transfer the funds to anyone.

In the comment for “UP Life“ Iryna Vynokurova, a representative of the press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office, said that the girl, wearing a T-shirt with the inscription “Aid to orphans“, the police saw on Khreschatyk. She asked passers-by to donate funds to a bank card.

“Law enforcement officers began to check information about who the girl is collecting money for and which charity she belongs to. She showed the documents, but it turned out that they were forged“, – said the representative of the press service.

According to her, interested pseudo-volunteers transferred from 300 to 500 hryvnias. In general, it was possible to collect “donations“ 15 people: this was found out by checking the number of transactions made. All victims have already written statements to the police.

The girl faces punishment in the form of restriction of liberty for up to five years, deprivation of liberty for up to three years, correctional work for up to two years, or payment of a fine in the amount of 51 to 68 thousand hryvnias.

The prosecutor’s office calls for caution and not to give money to people on the street. Charitable foundations usually have official pages with all the necessary information, financial and photo reports, as well as contacts for clarification or verification of data.

We used to told, that the pseudo-volunteer deceived the soldiers by presenting himself as an employee of the “Tyho” charitable foundation. The swindler took money from the soldiers for a car, and then disappeared.
