During March 2024, dozens of dolphins died in the Black Sea near the temporarily occupied Crimea, Novorossiysk and the coast of the Krasnodar Territory as a result of military operations.

“In March 2024, several dozen dolphins have already died in the bays of Sevastopol and other shores of the occupied Crimea. Contused animals with symptoms of sonar damage were also found (means of sound detection of underwater objects using acoustic radiation – ed.). Moreover, among the dead are many bottlenose dolphins.

To our shores of Odessa and the shores of Bulgaria, the current also brought the Azovs, who died from the war in the orc-occupied waters of the Black Sea. Rusev said.

He emphasizes that animals are dying due to the activity of Russian submarines and surface boats near Crimea and Novorossiysk.

According to Ivan Rusev, the sea “throws out” only 5% of bodies, so the number of dead animals can reach several thousand.

He reminds that dolphins began to die en masse in March 2022.

“Then a terrible mass death of cetaceans began – hundreds of them were thrown onto various Black Sea shores. We have written about this many times and given an estimate of the number of dolphins killed as a result of the war – a total of 50,000 animals.” – said the researcher.
