In Odessa, a man stole a turtle from a neighbor and made soup out of it. This was reported by the Odesa Oblast police. According to law enforcement officers, the incident happened back in July – in an apartment building in the Khadzhibey district of the city. Then he broke her shell with a kitchen hammer, boiled it and ate it. “Discovering the absence of the turtle, the victim turned to the employees of police department No. 3 of the Odesa District Police Department No. 1, on whose service territory the incident took place,” law enforcement officers say. During the investigation, the police identified the person involved in the disappearance of the animal and all the circumstances of the crime, and seized physical evidence. The perpetrator was notified of suspicion of secret theft of someone else’s property, theft under martial law, as well as cruel treatment of animals under Part 4 of Art. 185 and Part 1 of Art. 299 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. “According to the sanctions of the specified articles, the maximum punishment that threatens the man is imprisonment for a term of up to eight years. The investigation is ongoing,” said the deputy head of the investigation department of the territorial division of the police, Anastasia Chernenko.
