In Russia, three concerts of the rock group “Slot” have been canceled in a row. The musicians reported on their Instagram that the February concerts in Tambov, Penza, and Tolyatti will not take place “due to circumstances beyond the reasonable capabilities of the venues, the group, and the organizer.” The rock group is mentioned in the list of artists whose performances are considered undesirable by the authorities.

The Moscow group “Slot” has been playing in the style of alternative rock since 2002.

In early February, the staff of the Presidential Administration issued an updated list of banned musicians to promoters and producers. It already has 77 Russian artists and groups. A new list of 50 names was published by “Meduza” with reference to independent mutual sources in the music industry. Presumably, artists are being prosecuted for their statements against the war in Ukraine and political repression in Russia. “Slot” is also mentioned in the list.

As Sota clarifies, the group’s musicians did not speak out directly against the war. In Ukraine, “Slot” is included in the list of accomplices of the Russian aggression “Mirotvorets” due to the fact that the group gave concerts in Crimea after its annexation by Russia. However, the musicians expressed their civil position on other issues: for example, in 2019, the group performed in Shies for eco-activists who opposed the construction of a landfill.
