13-year-old Wyatt Kaufman survived a 30-meter fall in the Grand Canyon National Park in the United States. Since the helicopter could not reach him, rescuers pulled the boy out using ropes, the park said. The incident happened on August 8 during a family trip. The teenager took a photo, and then decided to give way to other tourists and moved to the side. “I crouched down and I was holding on to a rock. I only had one hand. It wasn’t a very comfortable grip, it felt like it was pushing me back. I lost my grip and started falling,” Wyatt told Phoenix TV station KPNX. He has 9 broken vertebrae, a ruptured spleen, a ruptured lung, a concussion, a broken arm and a dislocated finger. The victim notes that he does not remember all the details, in particular, how he got to the hospital: only fragments of the “journey” in the ambulance, the helicopter and directly in the clinic. “Two hours is an eternity in a situation like this, but the rescuers managed to push off the rock and pull my son out of the canyon. We are extremely grateful to everyone for their work. It was one of the most painful phone calls I have ever had to make, to be honest,” said the boy’s father, Brian Kaufman. The father added that his son’s face is bruised, but his condition is improving every day. It will be recalled that at the end of May 2023, a one-year-old baby fell from the window of an apartment on the second floor. He miraculously survived.
