From September 1, 240,000 schoolchildren in Kyiv will study offline – this is 2.5 times more than last year. In 2022, only 94,000 parents decided to send their children to offline education, the Kyiv City State Administration reports. “This year, the city paid the main attention to repairs and modernization of shelters in order to bring them to the necessary condition in accordance with the requirements and increase the number of places,” – says the KMDA. In 2023, the educational institutions of the capital have preserved all possible formats of education in order to provide education to children who cannot go to school face-to-face. Photo: oksun70/Depositphotos This year, the Kyiv City Council allocated UAH 550 million for the arrangement of shelters in educational institutions, and UAH 61 million should be directed to the construction of new shelters. Currently, 417 schools out of 420 have shelters, which have 190,000 places. “In those schools where there are more people willing to study than places in the shelter, a mixed education system will operate. In particular, it is possible to use such a mechanism as a second shift or alternate offline/online education, however – exclusively for high school students. Primary school will be exclusively taught offline,” said Valentyn Mondryivskyi, Deputy Chairman of the KMDA. We will remind, earlier the Minister of Education Oksen Lisovyi said that from September 1, about 500,000 schoolchildren will return to face-to-face education. However, some schools in Volyn were closed until August 31 to save money, so they are not ready for the new school year. Read also: +1 form of education.
