Kyiv customs officers confiscated a hundred archaeological finds of the 8th century. B.C. – XIII century. not.

The artifacts were tried to be transported in two international postal shipments to Germany, the Kyiv Customs reported.

Among the archaeological objects of cultural and historical value are ancient throwing weapons, tools and elements of clothing.

The items were discovered during customs control of international shipments, one of which was headed abroad from Cherkasy, and the other from the city of Ichnya in Chernihiv Oblast.

The objects were immediately sent for examination to the National Museum of the History of Ukraine to establish their belonging to cultural values.

As identified by the experts, among the artifacts discovered by the customs officers were, in particular, 15 bronze arrowheads from the pre-Scythian to Scythian times (VIII-V centuries BC).

The parcel also contained four tools – copper-bronze adzes belonging to the early and middle bronze period (III-middle of the II century BC). In ancient times, they were used for hollowing troughs, dugout boats, etc.

In addition, 54 bronze belt buckles and their fragments were found, which are attributed to the Chernyakhov culture (III-early V century).

The international shipment contained 9 iron arrowheads belonging to the Saltiv culture (VX century).

“Kyiv Customs once again reminds that archeology items cannot be sold, collected by private individuals and exported outside of Ukraine. Their place is in the Museum Fund of Ukraine.” – they say in the department.
