Outages with mobile communication: how to get an e-prescription if SMS does not arrive

Changes were made to the electronic health care system regarding the creation of an electronic prescription. They will allow the patient to receive the e-prescription number and code even in the absence of communication.

According to the Ministry of Health, the changes will be temporary – they will be in effect until the connection is restored.

Notifications with the prescription number and code will not be sent to patients of all mobile operators. Instead, from now on, the information certificate will contain the repayment code, which is required for the dispensing of medicines by a pharmacist in a pharmacy.

To receive new prescriptions from December 15, 2023, the doctor must print you a paper information certificate or send it electronically. Such an information certificate will contain the number of the prescription and the code for its redemption, which must be provided to the pharmacy employee”– say the Ministry of Health.

This can also be done remotely – in a format agreed between the doctor and the patient: by phone or messenger.

Those patients to whom the prescription was written by December 14 inclusive, but the text message has not yet arrived, can contact the doctor again. It will generate a new information certificate that will contain the data necessary to pay off the prescription at the pharmacy.

“If you were previously issued an e-prescription and still managed to receive an SMS – no additional steps are required. As before, you can contact the pharmacy and present the prescription number and its confirmation code from the received message”– the ministry notes.

The changes apply to all programs under which drugs are prescribed by e-prescription, both under the reimbursement program and at the patient’s own expense. However, they do not affect the e-prescribing processes for medical devices, in particular test strips.

The Ministry of Health reminds that during martial law, a doctor of the patient’s choice can issue a paper prescription for prescription drugs at the patient’s own expense. An exception is narcotic drugs, as well as drugs that are included in the reimbursement program – they are dispensed exclusively on the basis of an electronic prescription.

We remind you that even the first e-prescription can be obtained remotely.
