In Lviv, five patients were transplanted with healthy organs of a 54-year-old man who had a stroke. This is reported by the Lviv City Council. A resident of Lviv Oblast, who suffered a stroke, was diagnosed with brain death by doctors. The man’s relatives agreed to donate his organs to save others, which saved the lives of five people. Lungs, for the second time in the history of Ukraine, were transplanted to 56-year-old Oleksiy from Kyiv, a liquidator of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, who is raising an 8-year-old son. The operation lasted 16 hours, the lungs were transplanted through a mini-access and without the use of an artificial blood circulation device. The patient feels great,” said the doctors of the First Medical Association of Lviv. 48-year-old Oleksandr received a donor heart. His heart could not pump blood because of the disease, so without a donor organ he had no chance of life. The liver was transplanted to 50-year-old Valery. He had cirrhosis of the liver caused by the hepatitis C virus (liver disease). 47-year-old Ivan and 44-year-old Lyubov received kidneys. They suffered from chronic glomerulonephritis (inflammatory process). We will remind you that the heart, liver and kidneys of a donor who died in a road accident were transplanted in Lviv.
