Scientists have found a way to neutralize the unpleasant smell after eating garlic

Fats and proteins contained in yogurt can neutralize substances in garlic that provoke the appearance of a characteristic smell.
Yogurt should be drunk or eaten immediately after eating garlic, according to the results of a study published in the journal Molecules, writes The Guardian.
Scientists Manpreet Kaur and Cheryl Barringer from Ohio State University in Columbus studied the compounds that make up yogurt.
They found that water, fats and proteins can neutralize the sulfur compounds that give raw and cooked garlic its characteristic smell.

If you eat yogurt immediately after garlic, it will reduce the amount of volatile substances in vegetables that cause odor by 99%, scientists say.
They added that yogurt with a higher fat content was most effective.
Professor Cheryl Barringer also suggested that Greek yogurt, which has a higher protein level than the yogurt used in the study, might be more effective.
“Fruit-flavored yogurts will probably work as well, but whatever yogurt a person consumes, it should be done as soon as possible after the garlic“– scientists added.
