In 2010, I got cancer for the first time. I was 26 years old, then I was 5 months pregnant with my second child. I noticed a small lump in the mammary gland by accident. There was no pain or other symptoms.

But she decided not to delay the visit to the mammologist, so on December 31 she went to a private clinic in her hometown. The doctor took a look and immediately assured me that it was a benign tumor. But it is impossible to determine by touch!

After the New Year holidays, I went to the oncology clinic, where the doctors immediately said that I have oncology in the initial stage.

An operation was performed on Vodokhreshche – a breast resection (a part was cut out – ed.). In April, she gave birth to a daughter, and a week after that she went to chemistry, and then she went bald.

I remember laughing at myself then. She came to her parents in the village and used to take off strands of her hair. She showed it to her mother, put it in a bag and laughed. She wanted to faint from that picture every time. I poked her and did not allow myself to lose heart in this way.

After the treatment, I was very afraid of getting sick again. It seemed to me that when I got sick a second time, I would not survive. The disease returned 10 years later, after the birth of the third child.

I found out about her during a routine checkup with a mammologist. I was diagnosed with oncology again in the same place and also at an early stage. But there was no feeling of “it’s all over, I’ll die”. The thought that in 10 years at least managed to travel and see a little of the world flashed by.

I am a fatalist and believe that you cannot jump too high. But you always have to fight – to the last.

I underwent the treatment a second time: it was more difficult. I felt pain, felt weaker, had shortness of breath, in addition, my hair fell out again, my whole body was swollen, especially my face. But my husband supported me a lot: he told me that I was beautiful at every opportunity.

I didn’t tell my parents about the diagnosis until the very end – my mother was very worried, and for her the return of the disease was a shock.

My life has changed a lot. First of all, I created an organization that helps women find and treat cancer. In general, I would like to change the medical culture: people should go to the doctor for a preventive check-up, not when it already hurts, burns and makes life unbearable.

And cancer taught me to enjoy time with my husband, family, and our children. Living life to the fullest turned out to be easier than I thought before.

I would advise all women who have been diagnosed with oncology not to lose heart. Yes, no one wants to be bald, swollen, maybe without a part of the chest.

Every time I passed by the mirror, I shuddered at the image. But my husband complimented me. It was the support I needed.

Therefore, I want to assure you: hair returns, swelling disappears, and life continues after cancer treatment.

A routine check-up is important, because the sooner doctors detect a problem, the more chances you have to live a happy life. Cancer is a silent killer that has no symptoms at the beginning of the disease. Therefore, at least – feel your breasts once every few weeks, take care of yourself, do not neglect or delay treatment.

Even breast removal is not a death sentence. You can make plastic or you can buy a special bodice for correction. This operation is performed only in extreme cases, and its purpose is to protect the woman from recurrence. A lot of women suffer because of this, but I can assure you – life goes on!
