Radio dictation of national unity-2023 Ukrainians, like last year, wrote in military units, educational institutions, at home, and some even in a bar.

This year’s dictation was called “Roads of Ukraine”. The text was written by the poet Kateryna Kalytko. Oleksiy Hnatkovskyi, the actor who played the role of Ivan Dovbush in the popular film of the same name, read it.

Fighters of the 128th separate Transcarpathian Mountain Assault Brigade joined the radio dictation of national unity in the field. The text was written in the area where the combat situation allowed and the Internet caught.

On “Ukrainian Radio-Cherkasy” radio dictation was written this year by servicemen of the 118th brigade and women who moved to the city after the full-scale invasion.

Military servicemen of the Vasyl Vyshivany Training Center of the National Guard of Ukraine also participated in the writing.

“Dictation for me is one of the true acts of unity”, – says servicewoman Natalya.

Ukrainians share their impressions of this year’s radio dictation on social networks. Most find the text interesting and poignant.

It is also noted that the dictation was not easy, it was especially difficult with punctuation.

Kateryna Ishchenko writes that the dictates of national unity are still alive and well:

“This time our roads, which, despite their imperfection, were our guides to the world, with which we explored Ukraine either on foot, by train, or by car.”

The woman notes that over the past two years, thousands of people have discovered not only Ukrainian ways, but also many others.

“They take us further from home, then bring us back again. Someone is gone, he will open new worlds and leave Ukraine only as a memory. No matter what, we always remember those within our 603,700 sq. km.” – writes Kateryna.

Many people wrote radio dictation for the first time.

“Wrote the dictation of national unity for the first time today. Incredible feelings. And “streams in the pits” were simply embraced. I predict a few mistakes with punctuation dash or colon”, – writes Ivanna Slaboshpytska.

Mila Ivantsova believes that writing dictation simultaneously with compatriots in Ukraine and abroad is very exciting.

“People have learned how to write with their hands. I type very quickly, and I’m also blind, and writing dictation with a pen was difficult not only for me.” – a woman shares her impressions.

Maria Kravchenko wrote dictation for the first time in a bar.

“I have to admit – it was the most moving and comforting writing of radio dictation in all this time”, – writes Maria.

Yuliya Lastovets also took dictation for the first time. The last time I wrote in 1999, when I was preparing to enter the university:

“It was difficult for me: the pace is too fast for me, I have had problems with punctuation since school, my handwriting has always been so-so. But the experience is incredibly interesting, the text is beautiful, I was moved by the mention of our pedestrian bridge in Chernihiv.”

Maryna Kurylchuk is also one of those who writes dictation for the first time. The adventure with pens gave the woman the opportunity to feel “back at school”:

“When I wrote a part, I ran out of five (!) pens of pasta, and one was lost somewhere. Then I found it under the sofa, because the cats were playing with it yesterday and threw it there. I can imagine a similar situation at school.”

Andriy Kulibaba admits that he wrote dictations poorly at school.

“I will look school fear in the face, and together with you I will write a radio dictation of national unity, the first in 12 years. And I am not at all worried about how I will write it, because the most important thing in a radio dictation of national unity is not the dictation, but national unity, which we so needed now”– he writes.

However, there were those who did not like the text of the dictation.

“I had to get to France to start learning Ukrainian properly”– writes Svitlana Panina.

The woman noted that she did not like the text:

“I don’t like these nuts that stroke the windshield and the “bellies of the bridges”. But it’s dictation. I don’t think he should be liked in a literary way, huh? I got used to writing by hand, I could barely keep up with the announcer.”

Olena Zvarych is also among those who were not affected by the text of the dictation:

“Such an obvious, direct one, like that road. About pumpkins and corn, it is not clear what from the list people will cover their houses for the winter. Kostrubatenko. In 2022, both the text and the reader were powerfully stronger”.

The author of the dictation text, Kateryna Kalytko, shared her impressions of how Ukrainians wrote radio dictation.

“From the shots where the soldiers in balaclavas write a radio dictation in field tents, I rubbed tears on my cheeks. Some touchingly, like a schoolboy, scratched the back of their head) Then Serhii Gnezdilov wrote how they almost fought for the handles, and I was already laughing.” – wrote the author of the text.

The poet noted that she has already received many letters from Ukrainians with words of thanks and impressions:

“Someone traveled through Ukraine from abroad and imagined what it was like in autumn, someone recognized their region, someone spoke about the stubbornness of grain that germinates after a fire, someone saw a lit parental window at the end of the road.”

The director of the film “Dovbush” Oles Sanin thanked Oleksiy Hnatkovskyi for “taking his time”:

“Guys were writing on the hoods, I couldn’t take pictures because it’s low there. They were surprised how you learned to talk in ordinary Ukrainian.”

We will remind you that in 2022, tens of thousands of people wrote radio dictation – this is how Ukrainians set a record. The text of the dictation was dedicated to the native home, its author was writer and director Iryna Tsylyk, and the dictation was read by actress Ada Rogovtseva.
