The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the State targeted national and cultural program for ensuring the comprehensive development and functioning of the Ukrainian language as the state language in all spheres of public life until 2030.

It was developed by the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy, are reported on the department’s website.

“The program is aimed not only at creating conditions for overcoming the consequences of Russification, but also at the development and use of the state language in all spheres of public life.

In addition, it covers measures to popularize the Ukrainian language in the world, because it is spoken by the bravest people on earth.”, – said Rostislav Karandeev, Acting Minister of Culture.

MKIP noted that The program will help create a single Ukrainian-speaking space where everyone can feel comfortable and have access to information.

They also plan to develop special projects, the purpose of which will be:

  • overcoming the consequences of linguicide (purposeful destruction of a language), as well as restoring the functioning of the state language in the de-occupied territories;
  • popularization of the Ukrainian language in Ukraine and abroad;
  • improving the teaching of the Ukrainian language in educational institutions.

The document noted that by 2030, all civil servants must know the state language – these are the requirements of the Ukrainian orthography and other standards.

In addition, Ukrainian should be used in communication, paperwork and for obtaining information. MKIP promises to take measures to help business employees learn the state language. State standards and Ukrainian professional terminology will also be introduced.

Ukrainians are expected to communicate only in Ukrainian in everyday life.

The ministry says: in order to achieve this goal, Ukrainians must be provided with quality cultural products and Ukrainian-language content.

“Implementation of the program will contribute to the fact that by 2030, 80% of Ukrainians will start speaking Ukrainian in their families and at home. The share of Ukrainian-language cultural products should increase from 55% to 85%,” — assured in MKIP.

We will remind, 66% of Ukrainians considerthat the Russian language should be eliminated from official communication. Only 3% of respondents in February 2024 said that the enemy’s language should receive the status of a second state language.
